David Bean, Founder
David Bean is the owner of Capstone Trading Systems, a Dallas, Texas–based quantitative research and development company focused on algorithmic trading software and systematic strategy design.
Mr. Bean graduated from Texas A&M University in 1994 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. After beginning as a discretionary futures trader in 1996, he started developing automated trading systems in 1997. Following a brief career in wireless telecommunications, he transitioned to full-time trading in 2001 and has since dedicated more than two decades to the research, development, and active management of systematic futures trading strategies.
Through Capstone Trading Systems, Mr. Bean has built a research-driven framework for developing quantitative trading models, indicators, and money management algorithms across multiple platforms and programming languages—including PowerLanguage, EasyLanguage, C#, Python, Excel, TradeStation, MultiCharts, and NinjaTrader.
Research & trading approach
Capstone’s trading approach reflects a combination of quantitative algorithmic trading, managed futures research principles, and global macro market awareness. The firm develops strategies for a broad range of global futures markets, taking both long and short positions across trend, countertrend, and mean reversion opportunities.
Capstone strategies specialize in automatic order entry and exits for day-trade and short-term trading programs. The research program is intentionally day-trade oriented, limiting overnight exposure where strategy design allows and emphasizing disciplined risk management as a central component of portfolio construction.
Software includes fully automated trading systems, indicators, and money management algorithms delivered as plug-ins or add-ons for TradeStation, MultiCharts, and NinjaTrader, along with Excel and Python research tools. Subscribers can lease, customize, and manage strategies on their own accounts with their chosen brokers.
