Trading System Signals for October 22, 2026

The dip buying continues to create a choppy downtrend. The stock indexes are trending lower more frequently late in the day that we have typically seen in recent years with the "propping up of the market in the afternoon" that we have discussed frequently.

It will be interesting to see if the market firms up and the bulls regain control at these levels or will the selling start to accelerate. The dip buyers have done well for a long time but normal market cycles usually and eventually test every type of trading strategy. Its been a while since the bulls have been challenged with a steep or extended drawdown. Its also been awhile since we have seen panic selling or margin calls (other than Situational Awareness in August).

We don't predict but maintain a long-short set of algorithms.

Anticipating more significant price moves into the end of the year with FOMC next week, mid-terms, and rising tensions again the middle east.
